Two Lessons from the Road
Dear trusted friends and supporters of The Goodness Web,
I joined The Goodness Web in the summer, a time when large meetings and events are minimal. With the transition to fall, my calendar transitioned to a life on the road. In the past few weeks, I’ve been in New York, DC, Dallas, Houston, and even Emigrant, Montana for work travel. I love getting to meet people who want to improve the same part of the world that I do—youth mental health. Each person has a story, and those stories are the fabric of our Web.
Getting to meet so many of our donors and grantees in person for the first time really brought to life two of pillars of TGW: (1) the power of human connection and (2) the importance of collaborative giving for nonprofits.
Events and Learning Opportunities
As The Goodness Web grows, we are expanding the ways we can learn together and connect. Please mark your calendars for the following:
The Goodness Web Salon Series, feat. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, October 29, 2:30-4:30 pm ET.
We are honored to host the Surgeon General for a discussion on youth mental health in New York City next week.
Community Briefing with Katya Hancock from TGW Grantee, Young Futures. November 13, 12:00-1:00 pm ET. We are committed to ensuring you can learn directly from our grantees who are leading cutting-edge work with young people. In our first Community Briefing, Celine will interview Katya Hancock, Executive Director of Young Futures, TGW's most recent grantee partner. Her organization, funded in partnership with The Goodness Web, Melinda French Gates's Pivotal Ventures, and the Susan Crown Exchange, helps young people navigate a social media driven world and build real connections.
Ambassador Retreat, March 31 to April 2, 2025. TGW has grown rapidly thanks to generous families across the country who have helped us expand the Web and our collective giving capacity by hosting salons and bringing our work to their networks. We are hosting our first retreat to bring together our Accelerator-level families and individuals who are committed to playing a leadership role in building our community and driving greater resources toward youth mental health. The event will be held in the Boston area and will be structured to include time for deeper learning on mental health philanthropy, reflecting on our collective role in advancing the field, and celebrating our progress. It will begin with a dinner on March 31st and conclude with lunch on April 2nd. More details to follow.
Grantee Spotlight
TGW is proud to support these organizations, among others, with major grants.
