TGW Awards $2.05M in New Grants
Dear friends and supporters of The Goodness Web,
The Goodness Web is pleased to announce $2.05M in new grant awards focused on school-based mental health and advancing policy change.

For the first time, we are enlisting our Youth Advisory Council members to share their thoughts in our newsletter. I hope you’ll take a look at YAC member Tariq Lawal’s video reflection.
Events and Learning Opportunities
As The Goodness Web grows, we are expanding the ways we can learn together and connect. Please mark your calendars for the following:
Investment Advisory Group, September 10. Next virtual meeting on Thursday, September 10th at 12:00 pm ET. TGW donors are invited to join us for a two-way conversation. We will share some of the potential grantees we are researching and also ask for your feedback on the youth mental health issues that interest you, the nonprofits you suggest we look into, and which of the grantees in our pipeline excite you most.
- Please reach out to Jessie Shaw (jessie.shaw@thegoodnessweb.org) to secure your spot.
Second Annual Ambassador Retreat, October 5-6. TGW donors are invited to Chicago October 5-6 to strategize with us about building our community and driving greater resources toward youth mental health. The event will be structured to include time for deeper learning on mental health philanthropy, reflecting on our collective role in advancing the field, and celebrating our progress.
- Please indicate your interest here if you would like to join us then. Please reach out to Celine Coggins (celine.coggins@thegoodnessweb.org) with any questions.
We also invite your participation in the following:
TGW Mental Health Playbook. We are working to build a playbook for families experiencing a mental health crisis with a loved one. We know our network has much collective wisdom. If you would be interested in participating in a confidential interview about your experience or sharing ideas for the shape of the project, please contact Jessie Shaw (jessie.shaw@thegoodnessweb.org). All names and specifics will be kept confidential.
Host a Discussion with The Rithm Project. Consider hosting a dinner or gathering in your community featuring TGW’s newest grantee, The Rithm Project, to explore top-of-mind topics like AI chatbots and therapy and young people. Please contact Jessie Shaw (jessie.shaw@thegoodnessweb.org) to express your interest and learn more.
Grantee Spotlight
TGW is proud to support these organizations, among others, with major grants.
The Jed Foundation (JED) recently convened leaders from all four U.S. regional higher education compacts for a first-of-its-kind summit focused on advancing postsecondary student mental health. The gathering brought together policymakers and higher education leaders to develop coordinated, scalable approaches to improving behavioral health supports for college students nationwide.
Inseparable is celebrating more than 100 mental health policy wins nationwide, highlighting years of bipartisan progress to improve access to care. The new interactive timeline showcases how partnerships with policymakers and advocates have translated into meaningful changes — from school mental health investments to stronger insurance protections — bringing better mental healthcare within reach for communities across the country.
Young Futures recently shared a fun look back at its first-ever Young Futures Block Party, celebrating the innovators, researchers, funders, and youth leaders working together to make the digital world an easier place to grow up. Check out the recap for a glimpse into the energy, creativity, and community driving this growing movement.
Our Minds Matter recently partnered with Born This Way Foundation to co-host a youth-centered evening celebrating connection, community, and action as part of the Generation Be There campaign. The event brought together young people, advocates, and performers to promote kindness, strengthen peer support, and encourage more teens and adults to become Be There Certified — equipping them with the skills to recognize when someone may be struggling and confidently connect them to support.
