The Jed Foundation (JED), in partnership with Surgo Health, released new nationally representative research examining how young people are using generative AI in their mental health help-seeking journeys. The report finds that while some youth turn to AI as a bridge to professional care, others, particularly those facing the greatest barriers to support, use it as a substitute, underscoring the urgent need for stronger safeguards and clearer pathways to trusted adults and evidence-based care.
Inseparable CEO Bill Smith shares reflections on the promising progress of mental health reform across the Heartland, highlighting state-level investments in accessible care and insurance improvements that are helping families get the support they need. Bill emphasizes how policy changes — from school-based services to stronger insurance protections — are beginning to make quality mental health care easier to access and afford for communities throughout the region.
Reach University was spotlighted by Philanthropy Roundtable as they expand their innovative apprenticeship degree model into behavioral health, helping frontline workers advance into licensed clinical roles. By making education workplace-based and affordable, Reach is strengthening the behavioral health workforce and expanding access to care in high-need communities.
