Dear trusted friends and supporters of The Goodness Web,
As 2023 is underway, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of The Goodness Web and share a look back at what we were able to accomplish together over the last year. Through your generosity and radical collaboration in our inaugural year, we grew our Web to nearly 100 Founding Families, exceeded our initial fundraising goals, raising over $11M, allowing us to award over $6M multi-year grants to innovative organizations accelerating progress and advancing systemic change in mental health for youth and those who care for and serve them.
We take the stewardship of your philanthropy very seriously. The Swartz and Verdi families, together with the Board of Directors of The Goodness Web, funded all operating expenses of our organization in 2022 so that 100% of your dollars can be pooled with others and fully allocated to proven and promising organizations. We are committed to doing this for the foreseeable future.
Onward, with gratitude,
The Swartz and Verdi families

On-Campus Awareness, Prevention, and Early Intervention
The Jed Foundation (JED) protects emotional health and prevents suicide for the nation’s teens and young adults. With TGW’s $1.5M three-year grant, JED will expand to partner with more high schools, colleges, and universities to help them assess and enhance their campus approaches and infrastructure to best support student mental health.
Insurance Parity and Equitable Access of Mental Healthcare
The Path Forward leverages large employers to drive insurance companies to cover integrated treatment of mental health in primary care settings. TGW’s $1.8M three-year grant will help build a national infrastructure to drive increased access to care and greater insurance coverage.
Service Provision for Youth and Parents in Primary Care Offices
The Think:Kids and Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (MMHPI) partnership, enabled by TGW’s $2M four-year grant, will allow for teams of providers to deliver the Think:Kids Collaborative Problem Solving® (CPS) approach for working with children with behavioral challenges. MMHPI’s Texas-wide reach, which leverages established networks of primary care practitioners, will provide early intervention and have a positive impact on students, parents, and mental health systems at large.
Policy Change to Advance Youth Mental Health
Inseparable, Inc. advocates for substantive changes in mental health policy in the K-12 school environment. With TGW’s $800K two-year grant, Inseparable will continue to affect impactful policy changes across multiple states; changes that will positively improve the lives of thousands of young people currently without adequate support by increasing and directing government funding to proven support models.
In 2023, we are focused on three key priorities for TGW:
The Goodness Web awarded four multiyear grants in 2023, each of which have already positively impacted the awardees:
The JED Foundation works directly with high schools, colleges, and universities to put systems, programs, and policies in place to create a culture of caring that protects student mental health, builds life skills, and makes it more likely students will seek help. Struggling students will be recognized, connected to mental health care, and supported. Their flagship product, JED Campus, is an intensive four-year partnership with colleges and universities to assess and enhance the systems that support students’ mental health.
Our Impact: TGW’s grant has allowed JED to expand the JED Campus programs to now more than 400 college and university campuses with more than 5 million students. It has also accelerated the launch and expansion of the potentially highly impactful JED High School program.
Think:Kids teaches families, professionals and organizations Collaborative Problem Solving, a transformative approach to helping youth with the root mental health causes of challenging behaviors. Separately, the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (Meadows), based in Texas, works at the national, regional and state levels to help mental health treatment systems improve. Of particular note, Meadows has been helping establish the infrastructure for providing mental health services for Texans through primary care offices.
Our Impact: TGW’s multi-year grant funds a joint project between these two organizations to deliver Think:Kids’ Collaborative Problem Solving solution through the network that Meadows has established in primary care offices, while also developing an asynchronous delivery platform to accelerate their reach. Development of both programs has begun, and a pilot healthcare platform has already been identified for the initial launch.
The Path Forward is a coalition of influential organizations in the mental health and healthcare purchasing ecosystem, advocating for proven solutions to provide an accessible and equitable mental health system for all Americans. They support systems change initiatives, both nationally and in their affiliated regional coalitions. Those initiatives – proven to be both effective and equitable – are:
Our Impact: TGW’s grant has enabled The Path Forward to staff multiple subject matter experts on Collaborative Care and network adequacy. These resources are already being deployed to provide technical assistance for the implementation of the Collaborative Care Model in multiple states.
Inseparable, Inc. is a growing coalition committed to promoting a mental health policy agenda for accessing affordable high-quality care, expanding a diverse workforce, and investing in proven prevention and treatment programs. Inseparable’s principal vehicle is its Hopeful Futures Campaign, which advocates for a comprehensive set of policy proposals to address the mental health needs of students in the school setting.
Our Impact: After successful campaigns in 4 states in 2022 – securing significant increases in mental health resources and processes for thousands of students - TGW’s grant has allowed the Hopeful Futures program to expand its reach. In 2023, the campaign is now active in a dozen states, with meaningful results anticipated to be realized by this summer.
