Over the past 15 years, she served as the chief executive at two separate nonprofits. The first, Teach Plus, is a national network of teacher advocates that she founded and ran for more than a decade. More recently, she led Grantmakers for Education, the nation’s largest network of education funders.
Coggins holds degrees in psychology, sociology, and public policy in education. She earned her Ph.D. at Stanford University. A respected thought leader on philanthropy and youth issues, Coggins is the author of three books and several dozen articles and reports.
Coggins has held appointments on several philanthropic and nonprofit boards, and also as a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and as an Expert-in-Residence at the Harvard iLab. She is an award-winning social entrepreneur who has been named to Fellowships with Aspen Institute, Pahara Institute, and The Mind Trust.
The Goodness Web connects a diverse community of result-oriented donors and partners who pool their resources and expertise to accelerate the most promising mental health initiatives to improve the lives of youth and those who care for them. Since its launch in 2022, The Goodness Web has granted over $7 million to proven organizations capable of driving systems change and expanding the availability of support for mental health and well-being across the adolescent mental health ecosystem. The Goodness Web was founded by Jan and Rob Swartz and Mark and Gina Verdi.
“Celine brings a passion for transforming the youth mental health space, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a track record of success mobilizing people and resources to drive systems change. She is exactly what we need to take The Goodness Web from our strong early base and grow it to the next level,” said The Goodness Web Co-Founder Mark Verdi.
Co-Founder Jan Swartz added, “Celine has spent her career leading networks that bring people together to be a force for good in the world. She shares our vision for building a powerful community of donors and social entrepreneurs, and she has the skillset to bring it to life.”
Of her new role, Celine commented, “The Goodness Web reflects a perfect alignment with my values, and my beliefs about the urgency of the youth mental health crisis in America. I am so impressed by what the founders, Board, and team have built already, and I'm eager to help them grow its impact.”
Celine officially began her tenure at The Goodness Web on May 20.
